One of the First U.S. Attorneys to Defeat the U.S. Government in an "Amparo"

R. Bruce Tharpe was one of the first U.S. attorneys (along with Mexican co-counsel) to defeat the U.S. government in an amparo, a Mexican criminal procedure that takes place when the United States files an Extradition Request. 

• Mr. Tharpe achieved victory for his client and defeated the U.S. government’s attempt to extradite by attacking the extradition request on several key points. 

• The Mexican government agreed with the argument, which was presented in Mexico City, and ruled in favor of Mr. Tharpe’s grateful client.
