Larry Hennig's 'No-Sell' PunchThis
story has been told by numerous wrestlers, from Ric Flair to Tony Atlas,
who experienced this unfortunate rib first-hand in the ring, courtesy
of Larry "The Axe" Hennig. Usually the rib would be pulled on some green, unsuspecting rookie. Again, only in the wrestling business. At some point during the match, Larry would
tell his opponent, "Don't sell this!" And then he would potato
the hell out of his opponent with a shot that would make his legs
want to buckle. Larry had told them not to sell, but they had no choice but to sell it! Funny rib, huh? Maybe only to Larry Hennig! But again, these are "rites of passage" in the wrestling business. You had to be tough enough to take a stiff shot from
Larry Hennig and come back for more if you wanted to last in the
wrestling business. The stronger ones survived, and the weaker ones fell by the wayside. This is the way the wrestling business
used to be - and people still say its fake! Not hardly!
