Bill Alfonso Puts Plastic Leaves in Ron Bass' Salad!

Another night after the matches, Bill Alfonso and I stayed over in Miami and had dinner with Cowboy Ron Bass at the hotel where we were staying.

Apparently, Bill Alfonso had been ribbed by Ronnie sometime earlier, and the Cowboy was due some payback. Fonzie had his eyes open for any opportunity, and this was it.

As usual, after the matches we had consumed several beers and were feeling no pain. Refereeing a few matches (or wrestling a match) in the hot weather of Florida in those days was unreal, even if most of the auditoriums were air-conditioned.

It still got hot in the ring under those lights. So after a hot night and a lot of perspiration, the beers went down easy.

As we were sitting in the restaurant, the waitress took our orders. Ron Bass ordered a big steak, baked potato, and salad. On the table was an artificial plastic plant. 

Sometime before the food was brought to the table, Fonzie removed a couple of plastic leaves from the artificial plant. When our salads were brought to the table, somehow the plastic leaves made their way into Cowboy Ron Bass' salad! I wonder how that happened?

Well, unknowingly, Bass dumped salad dressing on top and started eating his salad!

Fonzie and I sat there, wide-eyed and really scared to say anything. Before we knew it, Ron Bass had eaten the entire salad, plastic leaves and all! 

To this very day, we've never told him what we did!
